Honor & Betray (Honor #4) by Teresa Mummert

Honor & Betray tells what happens after William proposes to Emma from his point of view.

There are two sides to every story.

William has learned how to love, but his dark secrets could change everything.
With a horrible accident and the loss of another loved one,
their relationship hangs by a string.
As secrets begin to unravel, will William be able to hold on to Emma,
or will he lose everything?

Review:

3 Stars

I was so eager to read the story from William's perspective but I was very disappointed.

Soo... The only answer I got from this book was who killed J. At the end it left me wondering the same as the one before this one...Did he remembered? Sometimes it looked as if he did and other like he didn't. After the accident we only see Stephen at the end. Does it mean he has selective memory and he doesn't remember the women in his life but only his friend and family?

"...Stephen stepped closer to us, stack of papers in hands. He smiled at me knowingly, and I smirked." - WTF!

I love books with different POV's but I practically read the same story but with a bit of lies and murder tendencies from William's side. Not that I don't like it but this series could have been made in 3 books with both POV's in each one. Now we'll have to wait a year or so again to see what happens next and how William will get away with all his crimes and lies and not losing Emma in the process.

Carter Reed by Tijan

Emma decided to skip the gym and went home early. It was the last easy decision she made because she found her roommate being raped by the boyfriend. She had two choices. Call the cops and be killed by his family’s mafia connections or kill him first and hope to survive. There was no choice to her. She killed the bastard first and went to the one person who could protect her. Carter Reed. He’s a weapon for the rivaling mafia family, but he’s also Emma’s secret. Not only was he best friends with her brother, but she’s the reason he became that weapon in the first place.

Review:

***SPOILER ALERT*** DON'T GO ANY FURTHER IF YOU HAVEN'T READ "CARTER REED"

I was going to give this book 4 stars instead of 5 because I can't believe this is a standalone and it doesn't seem there will be a sequel or something else. But I had almost a full week to think better. ;)

Oh My...Carter Reed *sigh*

What can I say about this one... Meet Christian Grey, Gideon Cross, Ethan Blackstone in one book. He was freaking perfect and I loved it. This book had everything from lust, friendship, murder, action, drama, passion, romance.

"As soon as we get home. You won't walk for a week."

Emma walks into her apartment to find her roommate is being raped by her boyfriend. She makes a decision that will change her and her roommates life forever. She has to go look for the only person that can truly help her. The one person who will kill any person that gets in his way or who is a threat for her. The person that she was supposed to find after her brother's death. Carter Reed.

I went from room to room and I sliced their throats. When that didn't work and there were too many of them, I used their guns on them."

After 10 years Carter Reed has made a name for himself. People call him the "Cold Killer". Yes. He made sure to kill everyone who was involved in killing Emma's brother and some others. He owns a private non vanilla night club and other companies. He is believed to work to the Mob which he does.

Emma finds herself in a tough decision. Leave her friends and stay in Carter Reed's house and be part of the Mob or stay with her friends and be a sitting duck. After her brother, how was she able to stay alive so many years without people trying to find her? That's a question only Carter Reed can answer. Not even Emma who finds herself pulled to this H-O-T ass man knows why he entered the business. He sees in Emma his best friends sister and something more...And there is a reason he knows her every move. Scary, Stalkerish but who cares. He'll do everything for her. I would love to have a man like that! *swoon*

I can't tell more because then I would be spoiling everything but this is a must read. I really loved this story. I read several reviews where people say that at the beginning they were having trouble to understand the story or something like that. I get what they mean. At the beginning Emma is revisiting memories from what her bother told her in the past. What I recommend to the writer is to edit the book and put those memories in italic, underline or something so we can know it's something the heroine remembers from the past and not the present.

I would love to see more of Noah and Theresa. Their relationship was hilarious. All the bantering and bickering.

"That was a private conversation."
"Not real private when I can hear every damn word. Stop whining, Theresa. I have every intention of bending you over tonight."

And there was something else at the end about Amanda with Gene?

"Color warmed her cheeks before she jerked her gaze away".

I would also like to know if this book is going to available for paperback anytime soon and the author to write a sequel or novella or something because I think a lot of things were left inconclusive.  *sigh*

Finding Cinderella (Hopeless #2.5) by Colleen Hoover

This novella is a companion novel to the Hopeless series, but can be read as a standalone.

A chance encounter in the dark leads eighteen-year-old Daniel and the girl who stumbles across him to profess their love for each other. But this love comes with conditions: they agree it will only last one hour and it will only be make-believe.

When their hour is up and the girl rushes off like Cinderella, Daniel tries to convince himself that what happened between them only seemed perfect because they were pretending it was perfect. Moments like that with girls like her don’t happen outside of fairytales.

One year and one bad relationship later, his disbelief in insta-love is stripped away the day he meets Six: a girl with a strange name and an even stranger personality. Daniel soon realizes the way he pretended to feel about Cinderella and the way he really feels about Six may not be so different after all. Especially when the two loves of his life end up being one in the same.

Unfortunately for Daniel, finding Cinderella doesn’t guarantee their happily ever after…it only further threatens it.

***Amazon Freebie*** Thank You Colleen!

Review:

This woman never disappoints.
This woman knows exactly how to play with your feelings.
This woman makes you feel all the love the characters have for each other and in an instant she crushes your heart and makes you cry and feel the angst and all the shit the characters are going through.

"...In the course of five seconds, we go from extremely awkward to kind of comfortable, like we do this all the time." ..."Like she's Tinkerbell and I'm Peter Pan." ..."Maybe she can be like Cinderella and I'll be her Prince Charming." Yeah, I like that fantasy better.

I haven't laughed with a book so much this year than this one. It was fucking hilarious and I couldn't stop laughing of course up until the last 20% before everything shatters. :(

"You should have told me I should date her, then I more than likely wouldn't have been interested. But you had to go and make her forbidden, didn't you."

From the moment Daniel meets Six he falls head over heels for her. She likes him too much also for just knowing him less than a day.

Daniel is his charming self just like in Hopeless & Losing Hope...Wait, No! He is better. He has no shame. Obviously a personality he was inherited from his parents. Seriously! They rock.

How can 100 pages make you feel so much love and pain at the same time?

This is me feeling heartbroken somewhere in this book...

I  really hope this books get translated to Spanish so I can show my friends the wonderful stories Colleen Hoover writes. This novella was amazing.

Review:

5 + Speechless stars!

THAT ENDING beat the one in the first book. That letter was heartbreaking but gave closure too.

We get to see Holder's POV in this one. You might think what is the point of reading the same story from other character's perspective, but I can assure you, you will not regret doing so. You get to see more of Daniel (Holder's friend) and his alliance with Breckin while he's having his Sky break. Holder writes letters to his sister in a notebook she left in her room. The letters he writes to her are so honest, amusing, and painful that I cried in almost all of them.

After his sister's incident, Holder has been having a very volatile personality and that scared the shit out of Sky.

"As much as I hate that I can't hit girls today, I hate the fact that I can't punch teachers even more." Yeap! That's Holder.

Holder finds in Sky similarities with his long lost friend Hope and he is in constant struggle with his emotions because he wants her to be Hope but at the same time he wants her to be only Sky. I loved how passionate he was about his family and friends and how he loved his relatives unconditionally.

We get to see his past and more about him and Hope when they were kids as well as his sister story. He can't let go of that guilty feeling that what happened to his sister was all his fault so he copes trying to protect Sky.

I Lived this book! Yeah! I wrote Lived so what?! Read it so you know what I'm talking about. It was perfection. The perfect closure at its finest. Yeah! no spoiler other than the fav quotes/moments below. Please read it. Even when we get the much of the same story from the first book, which is the same story duh! It's completely different from Holder's perspective.

The teasing and banter never stops! I Live it.!

And between all the emotional commotion he was able to find peace and Hope.

My words will never give this book justice...

***Spoiler Alert ***

"My attention is constantly homed in on her like I'm a compass and she's my North."

"You want some water or do you want to continue pretending you can stomach that vegan shit?"

"You probably faked passing out the other day, just so you could be carried in my hot, sweaty, manly arms."

"You're way hotter when you aren't speaking."

"She's flat out rude to me and I love it."

"Your logic terrifies me," she says. "I sort of don't find you attractive anymore."
Challenge Accepted

"It's okay mom," I hear Breckin say as he opens the door further. "He's not here for my gay parts."

"So I kept my arms wrapped around her and I said, 'I hate everybody too, Cinderella.' We were still in..."
"Wait, wait, wait," Breckin says, interrupting the story. "You called her Cinderella? What the hell for?"
Daniel shrugs. "We were in a janitor's closet. I didn't know her name and there were all this mops and brooms and shit and it reminded me of Cinderella, okay? Give me a break."

Hopeless (Hopeless #1) by Colleen Hoover

Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies…

That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.

Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.

Review:

5 + Heart Shattering, Breathtaking stars!!!!!

This damn book was AMAZING! The Edge of Never kind but twisted and fucked up.

There was so much sexual tension between the two characters up to half of the book or so. I understood  why so much platonic treatment andby the end the meaning of her emotional detachment (poor sky, it sucked) but still it is one of the best books/series I have ever read. And it was hilarious, sad, and embarrassing as well.

This book deserves my "book boyfriend, favorite-books, favorite-series, to-read-again, twisted, and twisted-as-fuck" bookshelves. It is so wrong and so good at the same time *sigh*

This book made me laugh and cry so, so much... I wasn't expecting so much tears. Unfortunately I love reading and the plot was so very addictive.

Holder always had a way to make Sky feel uncomfortable in a good/bad way. The bickering and banter between them was just too funny. This is one of few stories that I think I know what is happening but three chapters later the book takes a left turn instead of right and so on.

You will judge the integrity, morale and state of mind of some characters and even when they did wrong or broke the law you feel sympathy for them. This an emotional gray story because nothing is black or white.

You won't understand Holders behavior until the end... and then to fully understand what he went through you'll have to read "Losing Hope" Because yeah! that book tells the same story but with Holder's POV and then some other secrets are revealed there.

Why I waited so long to read this Series? God just knows... This story makes you appreciate what you have given in life, good and bad.

***Spoiler Alert***

Fav Quotes/Moments:

"Tell your daddy's I said thank you."

"In all seriousness, Sky. I noticed you in class today and it's obvious you're new here, too. And after seeing the stripper money fall out of your locker before fourth period, then witnessing your non-reaction to it, I knew we were meant to be. Also, I figured if we teamed up, we might prevent at least two unnecessary teenage suicides this year. So, what do you say? Want to be my very bestest friend ever in the whole wide world?"

"He flashes me his dimple-laden grin and faint. No... Literally. I fainted. And based on the ache in my shoulder and the dirt and gravel embedded in my cheek, it wasn't a beautiful, graceful fall."

"Your cookies suck ass. And you're really not that pretty."

"There's nothing like the guilt you feel when there's room in your heart to love evil."

And... That fucking ending... I got chills and tears and EVERYTHING!!!! I read it over and over again. It was just so sad and beautiful together.

"And once again in my new world full of heartache and lies, this hopeless boy somehow finds a way to make me smile."

Review:

TEARS OF FUCKING TESS!!!!! AGR!!!!!

I just found my newest book boyfriend. And he might be at the top of them all. I'm in love with Q.

58 Stockholmy perfect stars! I couldn't stay away from this book enough time to make updates about my reading trip.

What can I say about this story...I heard it was awesome and had it on hold since last month because honestly I was waiting for the sequels of other series and I didn't believe it was THAT good and I've seen a lot of reviews both good and bad. Speaking of bad I read people are saying this book is not captive in the dark dark. WTF! of course is not captive in the dark. That is why the book is called Tears of Tess by Pepper Winters not Captive in the dark by C.J. Roberts. Two different writers, two different stories. It doesn't mean that because is not CITD dark it's not dark in it's own unique way. It can't be even compared to Consequences. So please people do not compare these stories. I am a fan of CITD and love Caleb. I am a fan of Consequences and I love Tony. I am now "Captive" for Tears of Tess story and Q is the bomb. Anyway, my goodreads bestie Soenid said: Fernanda you have to read this book and she was so eager for me to read it that she send it as a gift through Amazon and so I started...

I couldn't stomach the first 15% of the book. I wanted to close it and never look back. Everything that was happening to Tess was horrible and very clinical and I know what the writer portrayed there doesn't come close to what really happens when a woman is abducted and sold for sexual slavery. I felt Tess's angst for the situation she was in and how guilty she felt about what was happening thinking it was her fault. Also the people that kidnapped her treated her like crab including beating her for not obeying ( Yeiiii Tess! Thank you for never giving up). On top of that I went for vacations last month to that specific place where she went with her boyfriend and thank God I didn't read it before leaving otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get out of the hotel room bhahaha. Focus Fernanda!

TOT is written from her POV. She is a strong aussie girl and she is in opposite sides with her boyfriend. Being an unwanted child and not being close to her family makes her clingy and try to please him even when she wants to try "different" things in bed that he doesn't. She doesn't want to be alone and she is his emotional support system since his parents died. But he is so B-O-R-I-N-G.

After all the shit that she has to endure with her kidnappers she is sold. And then Oh My!!!!!!

Master Q comes into the picture. She is given to him through circumstances he is not going to discuss with her. I haven't been able to fin the perfect Q picture that can make him justice.

"Stop. If she doesn't want to bow, then don't force her."
... "She may crawl if she wishes," he murmured.

From the moment they met she refuses to acknowledge him as her master, and as her owner and embraces her Devil-may-care attitude.

"I have no master, let me go".

This of course gives Q the hots for sassy Esclave . Because stubbornness is this woman best friend and she refuses to give him the last of her possessions...

"...seeing as you refuse to tell me your name, you'll be called escalve until you do. If you are going to learn French, let that be your first word."

There's something mysterious about Q. He seems compassionate but dominant and sadistic at the same time. Hope it makes sense. Sometimes I wanted to love the guy, others kill him, fuck him, kiss him, punch him in the guy, love him again. You know the drill. These two are fucked up with capital F. Q is a controlling, domineering, alpha sexy H-O-T male. He wants her to submit to him. He has been fighting his urge all his life but it is so difficult not to get off with this woman's sassy mouth. He is a monster and Tess doesn't know that with her attitude she has trapped herself in the monsters den.

"... He may be able to molest me, but he wouldn't stay whole while he did."

Even with his possessive sadistic ways you will love him. I know I did. There's just something about him. Under the I-don-give-a-fuck-i-am-your-master persona he seems to be a good man. That is why this story is a complete roller-coaster. You get him, you don't, you love him, then you don't, you want to fuck him, then don't (That's a lie, you ALWAYS want to fuck him). That just sums Tess's feelings.

"Two things I wanted the most in the world: for Q to die a miserable death, and for him to fuck me."

OH My God! and the sex scenes!

WTF! So fucking H-O-T! Seriously! Be ready to open a window when you read it because you won't be able to see your book from all the steam Ugh!!!

"I am Ami, Esclave"

Between those two I don't know who's more fucked up. Both have dark desires and not want to cave in them. So by the end you'll see a different side of well just read it! I guarantee you won't be disappointed. He has a beautiful heat beneath all the shit he has done.

"Nous sommes les uns des autres"

I can't wait for Quintessentially Q!!!!!

First I fell in love with Caleb (The Dark Duet by C.J. Roberts), then with Anthony Rawlings (Consequences by Aleatha Romig) and now Javier Bernal... I´m sensing a pattern here... Hmmm.

Unattainable (Undeniable #3) by Madeline Sheehan

Warning: This is not a virtuous and tender love story. It’s chaotic, ruthless, and tragic. This story takes love and kills its innocence, steals away the pure moments, and crushes the hearts of the broken. A story born in childhood, tying one girl to one boy, leads to a destructive path—that hurts more than it doesn’t, that shatters more than it heals—testing the love that binds the two through a lifetime.

Tegen Matthews is the daughter of Dorothy Kelley, a club whore in the Hell’s Horsemen. A plain little girl, Tegen falls into the gritty world of the motorcycle club. When she meets a sweet, caring boy, she embraces the warmth and affection he shows her. Cage West is the son of the president of the Hell’s Horsemen. Tall and blond with deep brown eyes, as he grows up Cage realizes the power of his dimpled smile and smooth drawl. With one chance encounter, Tegen becomes forever tied to Cage. Following is a wayward journey that is filled with regrets, mistakes, and heartache, pulling at the threads that hold them together. Cage and Tegen fight hard but love harder, and in the end, what matters is where the journey takes one girl and one boy, who have been twined with one another since the beginning.

This is Tegen and Cage’s story.

Love doesn’t erase a broken heart, and it sure doesn’t change people. But no matter how old, how flimsy, how frayed the rope of love is, it keeps you tethered to the people you love.

******************************************************************************

We were told this book was getting released in October but guess what?! Thanks to the fact that Mad Sheehan is a a self published author she gave us Unattainable a few day ago. This book is live everywhere... Yei!!!!! Unfortunately I can´t read it yet :( I´m stuck with Hopless series :S. For what I´ve read in good reads this book is the BOMB and Madeline didn't disappoint. PFFF When does she ever do that?!

The Artist Trilogy by Karina Halle

On Every Street (The Artists Trilogy #0.5)

When young con artist Ellie Watt decides to call herself Eden White and go after the drug lord who ruined her as a child, she never expects to fall for one of his henchmen. But Javier Bernal is no ordinary man. Subtly dangerous and overwhelmingly seductive, Eden finds herself passionately in love with Javier, the very person she's set-up to betray. With her body and heart in a heated battle against her deep need for revenge, no one will walk away from this con a winner.

This 50K word (100+ pages) novella takes place six years before Sins & Needles. It can be read before or after Sins & Needles and may also be read as a standalone.

*************************************************************************

Review:

Oh my! While reading this book I went ahead and read the summary of Sins & Needles. Wrong move :S. Here I was thinking Ellie was an As3&%&ole because Javier loved her so much and she was a lying bit"#& when he was straight forward with her since the beginning and my thoughts after I finished this book were... Fucking Javier I hate you, you motherfucking bastard from hell!!!!! I need to know what the heck happens next. Moving to #1.

Sins & Needles (The Artist Trilogy #1)

Ellie Watt is used to starting over. The daughter of a grifting team, Ellie spent her childhood being used as a pawn in her parents' latest scam. Now she’s much older, wiser and ready to give her con artist life a rest. But returning to the dry desert town of Palm Valley, California means one more temptation than she bargained for – Camden McQueen. Once known as the high school weirdo, Camden is bigger and badder than the boy he used to be and a talented tattoo artist with his own thriving business. Ellie’s counting on Camden still being in love with her but what she’s not counting on is how easily unrequited love can turn into obsession over time. When Camden discovers Ellie’s plan to con him, he makes her a deal she doesn’t dare refuse, but her freedom comes with a price and it’s one that takes both Ellie and Camden down a dangerous road.

***The Artists Trilogy is a dark and sexy contemporary ride about three flawed individuals caught in a world where it's so easy to justify the bad things we do. This is a pure adult read (Not YA or NA).

This is the 1st book in the trilogy. It is followed by the novella On Every Street (released in March 2013) and the sequel Shooting Scars (released in May 2013). The third and final book in the series will also be released in 2013.***

Review:

Ellie returns to her hometown after leaving six years ago. After a con went wrong with her parents she got some serious scars in her legs from acid that was poured to her by a drug lord when she was ten. She´s no longer using a fake name but her real name and is in need of a job to hit the road again. She meets a tattooed hot guy at a coffee shop while doing a job application. He turns out to be his former friend from high school, Camden. They were friends since childhood.

She goes out with Camden several times while planning to con him but it all goes to shit when he discovers her true intentions. He gives her two options go to prison or help him disappear. Apparently tattooed hot guy has several skeletons on his closet too. They start with a love/hate relationship because the story is told from present and past. Guess who comes into the picture.... yeah! That´s right Javier Bernal.

Shooting Scars (The Artists Trilogy #2)

Sometimes the right choice can be the deadliest.

When Ellie Watt made the ultimate sacrifice for Camden McQueen, she never thought it would be easy. But walking away with her ex-lover, Javier Bernal, in order to ensure Camden’s safety has brought a whole new set of dangers. With Javier’s plans for Ellie growing more secretive by the moment, Ellie must find a way to stay ahead of the game before her past swallows her whole.

Meanwhile, Camden’s new life is short-lived. Fueled by revenge and pursued by authorities, he teams up with an unlikely partner in order to save Ellie. But as Camden toes the line between love and retribution, he realizes that in order to get back the woman he loves, he may have to lose himself in the process. He might just turn into the very man he’s hunting.

Told in dual POV from Camden and Ellie.

Review:

Woooooooooooooo!!! That was one hell of a ride....

This is the reason I hate reading a trilogy that hasn´t been finished. Now what?!

Someone went all Liam Neeson on Javier.

I love Ellie.
.
..
...
....
I love Camden.
.
..
...
....
.....
.......
........

I FUCKING LOVE... JAVIER BERNAL!!! There I said it...

I´ve never read a book that caused me so much conflict to choose between two contenders for the love of a woman!

The three of them are doing so much shit in their present that they haven´t lost their head just because they have it glued to their neck.

It is said that "all is fair in love and war"...and apparently revenge too.

I love books in which the characters do all kinds of wrongs and still the writer makes you side with them because there´s always a reason behind their actions. They make you justify, spare them your hate, and make you pray for everything to end well for them.

The thing is, that with this book there´s not a woman and a guy and a bad guy.... There are 3 fucked up people that love/hate each other.

What the heck is wrong with me!?.. Can someone please explain?!

That motherfucking asshole is a fucking liar! A fucking CHEATER! a killer! A dangerous/deadly drug lord! Then why did I read this book with the sole hope of getting glimpses of Ellie and Javier together. Sparks fly with those two.

I mean I felt horrible for poor Camden. He is hot, he is in love with Ellie, I even love him too.. He has changed so much from last book to this one. He has evolved , as Javier told Ellie several times.

My heart aches for the man that will not get the girl. I feel like she has mixed feelings/SS with each of them since book one. First when Camden blackmailed her to help him, then Javier blackmailing her to get to Travis and she has give in to both of them.. She hates one and claims to love the other or is it the other way around? Is it real love, friendship, a distant memory of a past love. She doesn't know what she wants, who she wants, who she loves. N-O-T-H-I-N-G. This might be SS at its finest LOL. What she knows is that she is a con artist nothing more. That´s all she´s seen in her life since she was a kid and old/bad habits die hard.

In this book we see two sides of the story: Camden and Ellie´s POV.

While she is going back "unwillingly"/"willingly" to her past, Camden is on the run and has to find Gus before the cops get to him. Together Gus and Camden hit the road to go find Ellie in Veracruz, Mexico. WHAT?! Yes, she is there with Javier looking for Travis and even though Javier says he used to love her and not anymore because she broke him the moment she left, you can tell he still has feelings for her and is trying to mold her thoughts so she can stay with him and she still has feelings despite the hate she claims because she´s still not over the fact that he slept with someone else. As I said above, there´s always a reason to every action... I AM NOT justifying him, I still hate him for what he did but I feel less stung after finishing this book though. You see how fucked up this is? Javier killed people for her claiming he was protecting her, he blackmailed her too and the only thing I hate about this asshole is that he CHEATED! BAHAHAHAHA

A strange alliance has formed, loyalties are questioned too, the villains don't look as evil as before. Who will get the girl when it´s all said and done?!

I loved how the writer portrayed the drug issues in Mexico. Sometimes I forgot I was reading a book and thought it was a newspaper with the latest stunts the DC´s had done. What made it more believable is that she explain a real case scenario where ambulance gets to pick someone injured but then the cartels stop them and take the person with them.

She has done her research well.

I can´t wait for October to come. If there is a chance I could read the third installment earlier I would. Now what the hell am I supposed to do Ms. Halle!!!??

Impatiently waiting for...
